India’s major car assembling brand Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is now all set to bring its much awaited and anticipated SX4 diesel version to the market within this month. The diesel version will come fitted with the 90bhp, multi jet diesel engine along with VGT (variable Geometry Turbocharger) which has also been equipped in Fiat Linea and Indigo Manza, as well. The car will be launched first in the national capital, Delhi.

The new Maruti SX4 diesel version is believed to be lighter in weight by 70 kg than its predecessor, which will go to boost its performance and improve its fuel economy.

Maruti Suzuki has sourced the diesel engine technology from Fiat. At present, MSI has got its diesel variants of Swift Dzire and Swift deployed with similar multi-jet diesel engines, but the new VGT would improve the new engine further.

Interestingly, the SX4 in Europe sports a 1.9 L diesel engine, but in India, Fiat’s 1.3 L engine is considered a better option by the company.

The coming Diesel version will add some 70,000 INR more to the car's cost compared to the earlier petrol model of Maruti Suzuki SX4, justified by the more expensive diesel engine and better economy.
