      Maruti Suzuki, the brand name backed up with a strong history of delivering efficient and reliable cars in the country has been a popular choice among the local population. The strong line-up of cars from Maruti Suzuki has been more popular choice as a private vehicle rather than in the commercial vehicle segment. To gain a strong footing in commercial segment too, Maruti Suzuki has reportedly been working on developing a new diesel engine. It is believed that the diesel engine shall be first used in the upcoming Maruti LCV codenamed as Y9T sometime soon. Later similar engine configurations may also be used in its popular Celerio line in the country.

      The current generation of Eeco vans are based on multi-point injection technology that known to generate about 73 bhp of power at 6000 rpm with about 101 Nm of torque at 3000 Rpm. The existing petrol and CNG version is powered by 1196cc Aluminium engine. As of now, the Eeco vans are selling well in the commercial vehicle segment, but with the anticipated launch of a diesel variant, the van may further help Maruti Suzuki to gaining a strong presence in the commercial vehicle segment. Technical details on engine specification is not known for now but it is anticipated that diesel version of Eeco may be powered by around 1.0 Liter diesel engine.

      Currently, Maruti Suzuki's Eeco van is offered at a starting price tag of about Rs. 3,25, 481, whereas top end Eeco Green (CNG) with AC is priced at about Rs. 4,24,830 (Both prices are Ex-showroom Mumbai based). The van gets ample boot space of about 540 Liters that can accommodate almost every object you can think of. The current Eeco model is available in 5 and 7-seater variants. The drive quality is reliable owing to McPherson struts for front wheels, whereas the rear gets 3 Link Rigid suspension for a smoother drive to rear seat occupants. For safety, the car gets crumple zones, side impact bars, high seating position and energy absorbing materials.
