Maruti Suzuki’s love for launching Special Edition models is something that is known to all associated with the Indian car market as the country’s number one passenger car maker has made another addition to its long list of launches. The firm has gone ahead to launch the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Maximum Limited Edition, a version of one of India’s most successful cars in the past decade. This fuel efficient, aggressively priced and high on mileage car is loved by the entire country and people, who are on the lookout for models that suit their budgets along with being ghastly fuel efficient. Now, albeit this car is not a model that would win any competition other than that of a lower price, the model is just perfect for Indian customers.

Now, the first thing that is noticeable about this car is its appearance, which Maruti Suzuki has tried to enhance by adding graphics and stickers. Other than this, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Maximum Edition gets a number of new features, such as rear spoiler, art leather seat covers, keyless entry and audio system with speakers. Though there is nothing surprisingly new about these features, to get them within such a small price range is a boon for customers, especially in India. As has been the case with other Limited Edition models, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800’s new version features the same mechanical configuration and is powered by an F8D engine that has a displacement of 796 cc. The power and torque levels produced by this care are 47 BHP and 69 Nm, respectively. Taking the already top class cost-effectiveness of this bike to another level, this car comes with the option of a CNG kit and is priced in a region of INR 2.94-3.73 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). This model competes with the likes of Tata Nano, Chevrolet Spark, Hyundai Eon and Datsun GO in India.

Maruti Suzuki has received a lot of criticism for launching all these limited edition models but given the business it does, the decision is totally justified. The Alto 800, for instance, is purchased by a number of first time buyers and due to scepticism; they end up going for low costing Maruti Suzuki model. Similarly, a customer in India looks at a Limited Edition model as an opportunity to get extra features in a low price.
