Maruti Suzuki, the country’s leading auto manufacturer rolled out its ten millionth car raising the aggregate sales to one crore units in the Indian market in its 29 years of rich experience in the automotive field. The red coloured, Maruti Swift Vxi , which is the ten millionth vehicle sold by the company was dispatched to Coimbatore from its manufacturing plant established at Manesar.

The company was the initiator of the small car segment, as it proved to be the first one to realize the need for small cars for the highly middle-class Indian masses. In later half of 1983, Maruti Suzuki launched its first entrant, M800 and since then, has achieved a domestic sale of five million units.

Maruti Suzuki, which is acclaimed as the most reliable automobile brand is confident that within a span of six years, it will achieve a domestic sale of five million units.

Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., said while speaking about achieving this breakthrough, "Maruti Suzuki's success story is closely linked with the success story of India in the last two decades. Even as India has grown and transformed, Maruti Suzuki has evolved to meet changing demands."

The collaboration with the Japan based auto maker, Suzuki Motor Corp. and with the aid of the government, Maruti Suzuki revolutionized the whole perspective of owning a car. Apart from M800, Maruti 800 and Omni enabled the company to record high sales and its most popular model Alto has offered stiff competition to its rivals for more than seven years.

The latest entrants to the company’s diverse portfolio are Swift and WagonR that have speeded up the sales performance to achieve this progressive leap.
