Expressing concerns over the recent deadly violence at the country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar based plant, the chairman of IT major Wipro – Mr. Azim Premji – has called for the government action. According to him, the incident is a reflection of the rising social unrest in India.
Mr. Premji was speaking at a press conference in Bangalore after releasing the first quarter results of Wipro of FY2012-13. He added that the strikes at Manesar are sensitive and sign of the social unrest in the country, which is building up among trade unions. It was pretty unfortunate. It is important that individual associations take up the cause and the Government should act ruthlessly to ensure that such incidents don't happen anymore.
While further speaking on the country’s slowing economic growth, Mr. Premji said that while the country need new policies and projects, the government should at least focus on the execution of the existing projects.
On the Wednesday’s violence between workers and management at the Maruti’s Manesar plant, 1 HR executive had lost his life, while more than 100 people got injured. The production at this plant has been kept on hold since then.
