According to the latest exclusive report from BS Motoring, Mahindra Xylo 4x4 model will soon go into production. The test mule already has all the necessary engineering installed in the model and as a part of its last test ride it has joined the Mahindra Great Escape troupe during the recent event in Khimsar in Rajasthan.
Mahindra Xylo uses the advanced version of Borg and Warner system that will convert it into part time 4wd system. Mahindra is aiming more at the exports markets like South Africa and therefore it is experimenting with models like 4wd Mahindra Xylo. If the model adopts the new engineering system successfully, it will make Xylo as the first 4x4 MPV model in the country. However, market demand and such a concept still remains in the nascent stage in India and the company is still speculative about its sales in the country.
Mahindra is currently working on a brand new global model of Scorpio. It also planning to introduce a new SUV in the market in the price band of Rs. 16-18 lakh that will have a more powerful diesel engine, automatic climate control, ESP and cruise control. This model is also being designed for the exports market and will compete with Chevrolet Captiva and Toyota Fortuner in the Indian market.
