Mahindra & Mahindra, the largest utility vehicle maker in the Indian market, is all set to launch its much awaited global sports utility vehicle – Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian auto market today. The launching ceremony will be held in Pune at 7.30 PM.
The all new bold and aggressive Mahindra XUV500 will be the first ever luxury segment SUV from the M&M camp in the Indian market. The XUV500 is called ‘a global SUV’ as the company has taken into consideration the needs and requirements of the buyers across the globe while developing this SUV.
The XUV 500 is expected to be launched in the price segment of Rs 15 to 20 lakh where it will be taking on rivals like Skoda Yeti, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander and BMW X1.
The much awaited SUV is expected to be powered by the same 2.2 Liter mHawk engine that currently comes fitted in the Mahindra’s popular Scorpio model. The engine is capable of delivering a maximum power of 86.7 kw along with a peak torque of 290 Nm. Both two wheel and four wheel drive versions of the SUV are expected to debut in the Indian auto market.
Moreover, the SUV is expected to come blessed with a range of advanced features including multiple airbags, ABS (antilock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution), parking sensors, cruise control, etc.
