      Mahindra XUV500 reaches 1.5 lakh sales milestone

      The country’s most popular SUV - the Mahindra XUV500 - has set a new benchmark by crossing the 1.5 lakh unit sales milestone in India. First launched in September 2011, the XUV500 has been designed entirely in-house at Mahindra’s research and development facility, Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The Mahindra XUV500 that has always been favored for its off-road capabilities and robust body-built, has received a facelift in May 2015.

      Powering the SUV is a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This engine is capable to deliver a maximum power of 140bhp at 3,750rpm and 330Nm between 1,600rpm – 2,800rpm. While the FWD (front-wheel drive) system comes a standard feature, the AWD (all-wheel drive) is an optional offering. The updated XUV500 is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 16kmpl.
