Mahindra and Ssangyong have been working towards getting a new range of petrol and diesel engines. The Indian automaker has plans to introduce it first on the S101, the company’s new micro SUV. Mahindra is planning to launch this new micro SUV in this financial year itself.
Mahindra is planning to launch the 2.0-litre petrol engine on the XUV500, sometime next year. There is also a XUV500 automatic and hybrid in the works. Mahindra’s new 2.0-litre engine will be powering Ssangyong products too and the Indian automaker is looking at enhancing its reach in the Indian car market with several new products. The TUV300 was just launched for Rs 6.9 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune), with this being the introductory price.
The XUV500’s facelift got an update on the existing 2.2-litre diesel engine and now soon a petrol and a hybrid will be on offer too. Mahindra will be launched the Quanto facelift also in this financial year and this will be another SUV in the UV1 (compact SUV) segment. The 1.6-litre petrol engine will be used mostly on Ssangyong products and at the moment none of the Mahindra vehicles will be powered by this petrol mill.
