      Mahindra XUV500 bookings skyrocket with 5900 orders in just two days

      Mahindra XUV 500, the recently rolled-out Sports Utility Vehicle of the country’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra, is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers in the Indian market. Within just last two days, over 5,900 units of this SUV have been booked in the country, soon after company decided to reopen the bookings on 25th January.

      It is to be mentioned here that the company had recently decided to reopen the bookings of the car for a period of 10 days (25th January to 3rd Feb). Earlier, the bookings of the XUV 500 were suspended by the company soon after its launch in October 2011, after the production of 4 months (about 8000 units), was sold out within just 10 days of commencement of bookings.

      Earlier this month, the company had said in a statement while announcing the reopening of the bookings, "As a unique customer-centric measure, M&M has decided to undertake an XUV500 draw in this round of bookings in case the requests exceed 7,200 (bookings)." he professional services firm, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India, will be validating the draw process.

      Meanwhile, the company has raised the prices of different XUV500 variants in the Indian auto market by up to Rs 55,000, due to depreciating rupee and increasing raw material cost. The increased prices are applicable from 1st of January 2012.
