Currently, there are six variants of Scorpio that are available in the automobile market of the country, namely VLX, VLX Automatic, SLE, LX, EX and Gateway. Now, with this soon-to-be launched facelift version of Mahindra Scorpio, the number of available models will count as seven. This simply means more flexibility for customers to choose from. Like aforementioned, the teaser image has resemblance with the previous version of the vehicle. So, many industry experts are betting that the new vehicle will not see any major changes in configuration. But, nonetheless, few minor changes to exteriors and interiors may be made by the auto company as a part of its marketing strategy to invoke domestic customers.

Mahindra Scorpio is a popular SUV that comes with a high-on-performance 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine. This 2179 cc mHawk engine is packed with top mounted inter-cooler in order to keep the engine cool. A 5-speed manual transmission gearbox has been mated with the engine to ensure superior fuel efficiency. Customers also avail the option of an automatic transmission mode. Along with, the CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) fuel supply system of the engine helps to enhance the fuel efficiency of the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). Characteristic low noise and vibration operation is accomplished by two stage chain drive system and hydraulic lash adjuster.

Engine of this car has a potential to churn out a maximum power of 120 bhp at 4000 rpm along with a peak torque of 290 Nm at fairly low 1800–2800 rpm. Owing to a powerful engine, acceleration of Scorpio is pretty decent too. A speed of up to 100 kmph from initial can be easily achieved by the SUV in 15.6 seconds. Moreover, the vehicle can attain a top speed of 156 kmph, which has been widely accepted in its segment. Variants with 5-speed manual transmission system returns a mileage of 10.5 kmpl and 15.4 kmpl on city roads and highways, respectively. Whereas, versions with automatic gearbox offers a marginally low mileage in comparison with the manual variants.

Exteriors and interiors of Scorpio are quite decent. Especially taking about exteriors, a strong stance with bold muscular look signifies the power that the SUV brings to the drive even on tough terrains. Front fascia is highly defined by rugged bumper with fog lamps. Just a little higher, multi focal headlights are distinctly placed on the sidelines of a well-defined vertical front grille. Wheelbase of the vehicle is 2680 mm and the ground clearance is of 180 mm. Advanced interior features like 2 DIN audio systems, sun visor, air conditioner with heater and automatic temperature controller make for a comfortable long route drives. It must be noted that there is ample space in Mahindra Scorpio to accommodate 7 passengers with ease.
