Mahindra Two Wheelers is a subsidiary of the Indian giant Mahindra & Mahindra, a firm that has operations in fields like automobiles, finance, defence equipment, construction and real estate. Recently, the two-wheeler manufacturer came up with its second offering in the motorcycle market, called the Mahindra Centuro. Designed at it's Research and Development Centre in Pune, this bike was launched in Jaipur in the month of July. Since its launch, the Mahindra Centuro has been appreciated by both buyers and critics. According to sources close to the company, bookings have reached an exceptionally high figure due to which demand will be met by sharing space with its Pithampur plant. Mahindra & Mahindra has put in a lot of effort to strike a chord with mass buyers, something that has worked out well. The company has received over 30,000 bookings for this bike and has plans to launch more models in the coming years as per customer demands.

Priced at Rs. 50,000, Mahindra Centuro comes with a number of technologically advanced features. It is equipped with a digital dashboard that reminds the rider about how long the bike will run before fuel finishes. Equipped with a MCi-5 engine, the Centuro gives an output of 8.5 bhp at 7500 rpm. As per company claims, this bike gives an incredible mileage of around 85.4 kmpl. Another speciality that distinguishes it from rest of the bikes in this segment is the anti-theft alarm with an engine immobilizer. This system rings the alarm and locks the engine if someone tries to steal the bike. The engine immobilizer is a security device according to which the engine doesn't run till the right key is inserted. There are 'Find Me' lamps in this bike, which help in searching the vehicle dark space whereas Guiding Lamps assist in finding way in the dark, even when the ignition is turned off. The Mahindra Centuro has a chiselled body with a rugged style that gives it a tough and aggressive look. Notably, Mahindra & Mahindra provides a five year warranty on the Centuro, which is one of the longest periods given by any two-wheeler manufacturer.

Mahindra & Mahindra, understandably, is overwhelmed by the kind of response received by the Centuro, given tough market conditions. Also, the company was not able to get a positive response from the previously launched model, Stallio, which did not perform according to expectation levels. In recent interviews, company officials have thanked customers for their response, hoping that the model will continue its good performance in Indian car market. Available in two colours, red and black, Mahindra Centuro has a dry weight of 111 kg and has a length of 2031 mm. It has a hydraulic, coiled spring five step adjustable suspension system and a drum-130 mm front and rear brake, which offers a smooth and a safe ride. Mahindra Two Wheeler has got a stronghold in the motorcycle market with the success of Centuro. The main reason for the high sales of the Centuro is its wide variety of features. The Mahindra Centuro has given stiff competition to the likes of Honda Dream Yuga and Hero Passion Pro, two bikes that have performed well in the recent past.
