Maruti Suzuki has already said that it will be announcing the price hike within a week. The company has blamed the adverse foreign exchange fluctuations and increasing input material cost. As per a recent statement given by a senior company official, "There is a lot of pressure on our margins. We will increase prices within a week but the details are being worked out."

Interestingly, at the same time, Maruti is offering heavy discounts on their Alto, WagonR, A-Star and Estilo of up to Rs 35,000.

On the other hand, Honda has already announced to hike the car prices from the starting of next month. The prices of popular company portfolio vehicles including hatchbacks Brio and Jazz and iconic sedan City will be hikes from first October’12. The discount offers are on offer from Honda as well including a up to Rs 40,000 discount on compact hatchback Brio.
