Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the Scorpio SUV with automatic transmission (AT) in two variants – S10 2WD and S10 4WD – at Rs. 13.13 lakh and Rs. 14.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Just so you know, the company introduced the new-gen Scorpio (MT version only) in September 2014, and phased out the automatic transmission.

The Mahindra Scorpio is now available in a total of 11 trims, and with the choice of two diesel engine options – a 2.2-litre mHawk and 2.5-litre M2DICR (for base model). The Scorpio AT is powered by the 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine is capable to develop a maximum power of 120bhp at 4, 000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 1, 800rpm – 2, 800rpm.

Since it’s a top-end variant, the Scorpio AT is loaded with plenty of comfort and safety features. It comes equipped with new hi-tech 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with CD, DVD, USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity, voice assist system, new static bending projector headlamps, smart rain and light sensors, fully automatic temperature control, GPS navigation, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, engine immobilizer, etc.

On the exterior, the automatic variant features an “Automatic’ badge on the tail gate and both the sides. Though, the overall styling and dimensions remain unchanged. Just like the standard manual versions, the Scorpio AT is available with two seating configuration options - 7-seater and 8-seater. The new Mahindra Scorpio AT will take on the recently launched Hyundai Creta diesel automatic.
