The German automotive giant recently revealed a three-wheeled vehicle. The new electric scooter, which is a first from the company, can be operated like a Segway and it will have a range of close to 20 km. The scooter is designed to transport people from the parking lots to their final destination and that is why it has been named “Last Mile Surfer”. The vehicle seems to be extremely useful for congested areas where it is not possible to get in with a full sized car.

With a price tag of around 1,000 Euros, the invention will not come in cheap and if it is launched in India, going by the current exchange rates, it will cost Rs. 70,000. The 11 kg scooter will be powered by a lithium-ion battery only. This vehicle will prevent people from the minimum exercise they do by walking from the parking lot to their offices and surely looks to be another addition of technology towards achieving obesity. But, for people who have to travel really long distances from their parking spots or have a medical condition which prevents them from walking too much, it is a boon.

Volkswagen has been in the top 3 automakers in the world since many years and has often tipped Toyota from the top spot in terms of sale. It is the biggest automotive family and includes Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Skoda and Bentley under its head apart from a few others under its head. Surely, the company does not lack the technical assistance required to develop new vehicles.

The new scooter is a part of an all electric plan which the company wants to execute with smaller vehicles in order to make more fuel efficient and less polluting ones.
