Land Rover Range Rover Sport launched at Rs. 1.1 crore

Jaguar Land Rover, the completely owned brand of Tata Motors, has introduced an all new premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Range Rover Sport in the Indian auto market. Reportedly, the company has launched both petrol and diesel variants of this model between a price range of Rs. 1.1 crore and Rs. 1.65 crore. In an official statement, the Vice President of Jaguar Land Rover India, Rohit Suri said that the new Range Rover Sport offers the segment leading all-terrain capability with brilliant on-road dynamics.

Expressing his views at the launch ceremony, he was quoted as saying, "The new Range Rover Sport is a premium SUV with greater heights in design, technology, driving dynamics and interior luxury. It gives me great pleasure to launch the all-new Range Rover Sport in India. This premium sports SUV has reached greater heights in design, technology, driving dynamics and interior luxury, which together takes it to another level. The engines with their superior technology, provide better fuel efficiencies while the new exterior lines and class defining interiors will certainly turn heads and add to the comfort and luxury that one expects from Land Rover. Land Rover customers desire a brand that reflects their personality, has unrivalled confidence and shows capability with composure. The launch of the all-new Range Rover Sport, reiterates our firm commitment to offer customers and prospects, products that have exceptional design and technology at the core.”

In order to cater a wide range of customers, the new Range Rover Sport has been offered in two engine options, namely a 3-litre diesel 5-litre petrol. Adding to the performance of this engines, both of them are mated to an advanced 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The 3.0-litre engine churns out a maximum power of 290 bhp, which stands much higher than the output of previous generation model (254 bhp). With a peak torque of 600 Nm, the New Range Rover Sport offers brilliant performance with overwhelming efficiency. On the other hand, the 5.0-Litre V8 supercharged petrol engine belts out a peak power of 507 bhp and retains its title of being the most advanced version in the new Range Rover Sport line-up.

Sources close to the development process have revealed that the 3-litre variant will be offered for Rs. 1.1 crore, while the 5-litre petrol version is priced at Rs. 1.66 crore (all prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai). On the launch of a new model, industry experts said that the new Range Rover Sport happens to be the first vehicle in its respective segment featuring a lightweight aluminium chassis. Reportedly, the platform of this car is 39 per cent lighter than its erstwhile model.

Interestingly, the newly launched model comes equipped with a number of cutting edge technologies. Also, the British auto maker has introduced ground breaking next generation Terrain Response Setting, which is expected to gather attention of Indian masses. The new car features sophisticated and advanced interiors with more comforts at rear as it now offers improved legroom and shoulder room. It is said that the recently launched Range Rover Sport happens to be the ultimate premium sports SUV, which is not just the fastest model ever produced by the company, but is also agile and much responsive. The technology-packed Range Rover Sport offers its buyers with a more muscular and assertive exterior design, along with luxurious interiors. With the launch of a new model in the festive season, experts are of a view that it will be interesting to see that whether Jaguar Land Rover will pull in some decent volumes for itself.
