The all new Kawasaki Z800 has finally made it to India. Earlier last year Kawasaki had hinted about launching the Z800 during the unveiling of Z1000 and Ninja 1000. Incidentally, this is the fifth CBU Kawasaki to go on sale in India and is the seventh motorcycle from the production line for the country.

The Kawasaki Z800 is powered by 806cc liquid-cooled in-line four engine that churns out 113 PS of peak power at 10,200 rpm, and 83 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm. The powerful engine is mated to six-speed gear box. Kawasaki Motors Deputy Managing Director, Shigeto Nishikawa stated, “In 2014, we expect to sell around 400 units of five CBU models in the country, including the Z800”. The bike carries a naked design and features a steel backbone frame. Moreover, adjustable suspension makes it ideal for Indian conditions. The digital meter on the instrument panel keeps the rider update with all the important information.

The Kawasaki Z800 does not feature an aggressive stance like the Z1000, but masculine front cowl and sharp under-cowl makes it special in the Indian market. As per sources, the bike is capable of reaching a top speed of 233 kmph. Reports suggest that the first few lot of Z750 replacer will come through completely-built-up (CBU) route. In case of good response by the masses, the company may consider getting the Z800 through completely-knocked-down (CKD) route from Thailand. Nishikawa also added that, the company plans to sell around 1,400 units of Ninja 300 and Ninja 650 models, which have been assembled in India.

The current CBU models put-up for the offering are – Ninja 1000, ZX-10R, ZX-14R and Z1000. As per sources, the company plans to unveil two more motorcycles in 2014, namely the ER-6n and Versys 1000. The all-digital meter in this beast is eye catchy and gives a distinct look to the overall bodywork. Kawasaki has stated that a bigger engine makes its a better highway machine. Moreover, economy, range and comfort is something which you can expect while revving at cruising speeds in the sixth gear. Smart design and power seems to be just perfect from the Z800 and the bike is said to retail at Rs. 8.05 lakhs (ex-Delhi).
