Ford's Ecosport compact SUV has undoubtedly been the class leader in its segment. Apart from the domestic market, Ford's Chennai based production plant has also been catering to the international markets. Ford Australia has identified problems with the wiring harness that connects to airbags, side impact sensors and seatbelt pretensioners in the India-supplied Ecosport trims. The affected trims of Ford Ecosport are reportedly were produced in India based production plant sometime between June 15, 2013 to August 26, 2014. The recall notice put-up by Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) states that owing to flaws in the wiring harness could indeed result in problems with the airbags safety functionality. The notice reads, “If the side airbags do not deploy correctly there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants during a collision.”

Ford Ecosport owners have been advised to contact the nearest authorized dealership outlet and get the problem rectified post a thorough inspection. Ford's customer relationship center can be reached on 1800 503 672 to gain complete information on this subject.
