Hyundai Motors India Limited had earlier stated that it does not intend to bring diesel variant of i10 soon in India. Now it has conceded that its latest competitiors Ford Figo and new Wagon R may keep the company on its toes as both the models also have their diesel variants in the market. Hyundai is now rumoured to be all set to introduce the Hyundai i10 diesel variant in the Indian market although it has not revealed its final launch date.
In interaction with journalists, Hyundai MD H W Park answered general queries about the company's plans for India. Among others, Hyundai is planning to bring its cross-over SUV Santa Fe shortly in the Indian market by the end of this year. "We will launch one new model every year, one face-lifted version and a model year model," said Park about Hyundai’s plans for the Indian market.
He also stated that Santro still has strong demand in the Indian market and company still sells 8000 units of Santro every month. Hyundai does not have any plans to phase out the model from the Indian market.
