The hike in GST cess rates has hit many automakers, compelling them to increase their car prices. As a result, Hyundai has also recently announced the upward revision in prices of cars from their portfolio.

Hyundai announces price hike with increase in cess rates

The price hike ranges from two to five per cent and the new prices are effective from September 11 2017. The prices of the i20, Verna, Creta, Elantra and the Tucson are mainly affected. Only the 1.4-litre petrol automatic grade of the i20 sees a hike of Rs 12,547. Meanwhile, the new-gen the Verna costs Rs 29,090 more. The Elantra sees a price hike between Rs 50,312 to Rs 75,991, while the Tucson costs Rs 64,828 to Rs 84,867. The Creta also sees a price revision in the range of Rs 20,900 to Rs 55,375.

The car manufacturer has confirmed that the facelifted Grand i10 and Xcent will not be affected by this price hike. The prices of these vehicles remain the same. Also, Hyundai hasn't confirmed about the revision in the pricing of Santa Fe yet. We are waiting to hear from the company on if there are any changes on that front.

It's not really a good time for car prices to go up as many people are likely to buy new cars this upcoming festive season. Nonetheless, many manufacturers have already hiked the prices and potential buyers will have to bear these costs now.
