The country’s second largest car maker Hyundai on Thursday launched its much awaited small car – Hyundai Eon – in the Indian market. The new Hyundai Eon is priced in the range of Rs 2.69 lakh to Rs 3.71 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The company is expecting high volume sales from this car in the country, grabbing a major chunk of the sales of India’s bestselling car Maruti Alto.

Speaking to the reporters on the occasion, Arvind Saxena, Hyundai India sales & marketing director, said, "There is no car that is comparable with Eon. Yes, it is an entry-level car but with no compromise. It is a very spacious car with a large boot - something that you get only in bigger cars. And most importantly it doesn't compromise on style."

Blessed with the new age fluidic design language that has been incorporated in the new generation Hyundai Verna, the Hyundai Eon is powered by a highly efficient 814cc engine. The fuel economy of the car is claimed to be up to 21.1 km per liter. While the length of the Eon model is almost same as the Alto's, it has an upper hand on the Alto in width and height by 75 mm and 40 mm, respectively.

While further informing about the product, HMIL Managing Director and CEO H W Park said on the occasion, "Eon has been specifically built keeping in mind the varied Indian conditions and special requirements of the customers here. It will further expand our market share in the fast-growing small car segment in the Indian market."
