      Hyundai Creta Vs Nissan Terrano - The New Generation SUVs

      SUVs are the next big thing for the Indian automobile industry. Most major automobile manufacturers have started enriching their product portfolio with one or more SUVs. Incidentally, this aspect has given rise to a wholly new segment of cars – the MUVs. In such a scenario, it is but obvious that manufacturers like Hyundai and Nissan will have one or two powerful models in this category. Hyundai has pitted Creta, while Nissan has Terrano up its sleeve to take on the SUV industry. These two models are quite close to each other in terms of features and specifications.

      Hyundai Creta is powered by a 1396 cc U2 VGT CRDi engine, which can churn out a maximum power of 89 bhp at the rate of 4000 rpm. The maximum torque of the car is 224 Nm at the rate of 1500 rpm. According to ARAI, the mileage of the new SUV from Hyundai is 21.38 kilometres per litre. Power is transmitted to the wheels using a six-speed manual transmission system. Like all other modern SUVs, this car is also provided with FWD system.

      On the other hand, Nissan Terrano runs on a 1461 cc dCI K9K THP diesel mill. The engine can generate a maximum of 84 bhp at the rate of 3750 rpm. The torque output for the car is 200 Nm at the rate of 1900 rpm. ARAI standard has stated that the mileage of this car is 20.5 kilometres for a litre. Six speed manual gearing system do the transmission duties to all the four wheels for the SUV. The price of the Nissan model starts from 10.14 lakhs while the ex-showroom model is priced at 9.47 lakhs.
