Honda Motors India Limited (HMIL) is planning to introduce a revamped model of Honda CR-V in the Indian auto market. This fact is confirmed with the statement that the test mule of this soft roader has been spotted several times across the country, and recently in Noida. The latest generation of CR-V was worldwide showcased in 2011 and the same model is expected to sparkle at the Indian showrooms. Reportedly, the upcoming CR-V will source some traits from the last generation model with a modern design. Industry experts believe that the new model will be brought to India somewhere in first quarter of 2013.

The yet-to-be launched model is expected to feature four engine options, comprising two petrol and two diesel, which was available with the current generation CR-V. The petrol models will incorporate either a 2 litre, 4 cylinder i-VTEC engine or 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine options. The former is expected to churn out a peak power of 153 bhp with a highest torque of 190 Nm, whereas the latter will produce 187 bhp of power with 222 Nm of highest torque.

On the other hand, the diesel models will be offered with either 1.6 litre iDTEC engine, generating 120 bhp of power with 300 Nm of torque, or a 2.2 litre powertrain producing power of 148 bhp with a highest torque of 350 Nm. Complementing the performance of engines, the auto maker is expected to offer both five speed manual and automatic gearbox option with the new model.

Auto analysts believe that the 2013 CR-V will be offered with a price of around Rs. 26 lakhs, which will surely deliver a stiff competition to Hyundai’s upcoming 2013 Santa Fe. The new Santa Fe will be also placed somewhere between Rs. 22 lakhs and Rs. 25 lakhs. The introduction of a diesel engine in Honda CR-V’s line-up will surely gather attention of Indian auto aficionados as a number of individuals are waiting for a diesel version Honda car in India from a long time.
