The prices of Piaggio Vespa LX125 automatic scooter has been drastically reduced by Rs. 6700 from its earlier tag of Rs. 66,661, taking its new price to Rs. 59,960. Following the news, the auto company is looking ahead to grab the attention of auto aficionados who were planning to buy a performance scooter from a long time. Industry experts believe that the earlier pricing of Vespa LX125 was quite unfavourable for Indian two-wheeler industry as the price conscious buyers here compare the performance of any model with its pricing.

Following a drop in the prices, Piaggio is expecting an increase in its total sales. This automatic scooter was brought to the Indian market somewhere in April 2012. Post its launch, the model was believed to be a volume puller, however the auto maker just managed to report total sales of 25,000 units during the last calendar year in the Indian markets.

With the new pricing of its Vespa LX125 automatic scooter, Piaggio India now delivers a stiff competition to other prominent scooter makers of the country, like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, TVS Motors and Hero MotoCorp.

Highlighting the technical specifications of Vespa LX125, the automatic scooter is incorporated with a 125 cc engine, which has the potential to churn out a maximum power of around 10 bhp with a highest torque of 10 Nm. It can smoothly accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 10 seconds, following a top speed of 90 kmph. With a brilliant engine configuration, the scooter also offers a decent fuel economy of around 40 to 42 kmpl in normal driving conditions. Irrespective of its sporty performance, the Italian auto maker offered its dynamic scooter as a lifestyle vehicle.

On the other hand, it must be noted that the Vespa LX125 misses several features like front disc brakes and tubeless tyres, which are somehow present in its fellow counterparts. As the model is now little dearer over other automatic scoters present in the same segment, Piaggio has to find an alternative of these drawbacks as well. It is still to be seen that whether a price cut manages to lure the Indian buyers towards the doors of Piaggio Vespa showrooms.
