Honda, the Japanese carmaker, is aiming to further enhance its market share in the highly competitive Indian car market. The company recorded an impressive growth in 2014, thanks to new generation City sedan and Mobilio MPV. In order to maintain this growth, Honda Cars India is planning to launch a couple of new products and facelifts of existing cars.
The first car to hit Indian shores will be the new generation Jazz hatchback, which is likely to go on sale in the first quarter 2015. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, the Jazz hatchback will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol model gets the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit, the oil burner is the 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit. It is also expected that the company might also introduce the performance oriented model with 1.5L i-VTEC unit paired to a CVT gearbox with paddle shifters.
Honda Cars India is also contemplating new generation Accord sedan and the facelifted CR-V. Interestingly, both models are also expected to get diesel powertrain. While the updated CR-V will get the 1.6-litre i-DTEC unit producing 120PS, the ninth-generation Accord is likely to get 2.2L i-DTEC unit. Adding to it, the company is also planning to launch the facelifted Amaze compact sedan. The updated sedan is likely to offer better NVH (Noise Vibration & Harshness) levels. It is also likely to get improved infotainment system and better quality interiors.
