Gujarat Police is indeed upgrading with time. The Gujarat Police technical committee had recently submitted a proposal to the director-general of police (DGP) seeking permission to purchase about 20 international super bikes that also include about seven Harley-Davidsons. The bikes would likely make it presence felt during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' summit and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

The bikes would likely be used during VIP processions. Speaking more on the occasion, a senior police officer was quoted as saying, “Trainers from the respective bike companies will coach a group of riders selected from Gujarat police for the super bikes.” Other sources from the police department added, “We could have procured more bikes before Vibrant Gujarat Summit but two companies out of the three said they would not be able to meet the deadline to fix special accessories and Gujarat police logo. Hence only seven from Harley Davidson are likely to be procured before Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Other bikes will be procured later on.”

The technical committee has reviewed about four major super bike brands namely - Harley Davidson, BMW, South Korea based HyoSung and British bikemaker Triumph. The procured bikes would feature bikes powered by about 750 – 1000 cc engines. The Summit would be attended by prominent figures like country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee.
