Honda, the country’s largest scooter manufacturer, is planning to bring in an entry-level scooter to rival against the TVS Scooty Zest and others in the league. The new low-budget scooter will be positioned below the Honda Activa. A picture of Honda’s upcoming 100cc scooter is doing rounds on web, thanks to Motorbeam, though the company hasn't yet officially said anything about the scooter.

The image shares resemblance with the Honda SCR100 scooter, which is on sale in the Korean and Chinese markets. The SCR100 scooter has neat and simple design with flat body panels. It features a single-piece headlight cluster, sharp front apron, turn indicators on handlebar, contoured seats, alloy wheels and pillion grab rail with storage rack. However, the instrument cluster and switchgear have very conventional design. The rear three-piece taillight looks similar to the old Activa.

Powering the Honda SCR100 is a 100cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine paired with an automatic transmission. This engine churns out a maximum power of 7.1PS, while producing a peak torque of 8Nm. While the front and rear disc brakes are available as an optional offering, the telescopic front fork come standard. Having said that, the Indian-spec model of the scooter might be tweaked and share various components and equipment with other Honda scooters.
