The Japanese manufacturer has managed to achieve its 700th victory in FIM (Federation of International Motorcycling) and who could have been a better candidate for this achievement other than the prodigy turned living legend Marc Marquez. At Indianapolis, the defending MotoGP champion zoomed past his rivals and took the lead in the last 3 laps of the race and held it till the very end.

Honda had claimed its first victory at the Spanish Grand Prix in 1962 and has been a force to be reckoned with since then. MotoGP currently sees HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) as one of its oldest competitors and the company races under the name “Repsol Honda”. Marc Marquez has managed to win the last two championships and remains one of the few riders who have won in their rookie season as premier class riders. But, this year marks the return of the veteran Valentino Rossi on top who was once a Honda rider and had marked the company’s 500th victory in the sport back in 2001. The Italian is currently leading the points tally with 195 points, followed by his Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo at 186 and Marc Marquez at 139 points.

The rider who marked 600th victory of Honda is still racing for the team but has been lagging behind his world champion teammate. Dani Pedrosa had handed the 600th victory in 2005. Honda’s racing teams have been associated with the finest riders in the world including Freddie Spencer, Mick Doohan and Casey Stoner. Doohan went on to claim four consecutive premier class championships with the team starting 1995 while Rossi had managed to win two in a row from 2002. Their current motorcycle in the premier class is known as RC213V which is struggling with the pace of Yamahas. But, with victory at Indianapolis, it hopes to make it even tougher for opponents.
