While the price structure of the product portfolio of Honda Siel Cars India has undergone drastic modifications post the announcement of excise duty hike pronounced in the Union Budget 2012-13 in the mid of March 2012, the sales recorded in the last month has witnessed a sharp growth around 300 percent.

In the month of March 2011, the company had registered a sales volume of 3576 units while the three fold rise in sales stood at 11016 units this March.

The compact hatchback, Honda Brio with its attractive and upbeat persona and best in class performance attributes, has captured greater acceptance for the brand Honda. Even the latest version of the premium sedan, Honda City contributed largely to the high sales.

Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President (Sales and Marketing), Honda Siel Cars India, said, "Our sales performance in the month of March has been very impressive and is a testimony to our customer's trust and confidence in our product and services."

He further pointed out the reason for production cut last year saying, "Owing to the Tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand, Honda Siel Cars India was going through production cut at its Greater Noida plant during the year 2011."

The automaker is predicting positive sales figures in the rest of the year despite of the effects of excise duty hike as it will be strategically launching the newer versions of its highly demanded models, Honda Civic, CR-V and Accord.
