Honda is all set to inaugurate the new Jazz in the Indian automobile market. This car has been quite a performer in the hatch segment. With the brand doing the pre-launch marketing session quite heavily, it is expected that the new model might be quite a winner in the category. Here are some of the reasons why this model can be a strong competitor to Hyundai Elite i20.

The price range is competitive for both the models. According to the Mumbai, on the road pricing, Honda Jazz has been tagged at Rs 6.35 lakhs to 9.6 lakhs, while Elite i20 has been priced at 6.29 to 9.44 lakhs. The styling aspects of both the models are somewhat similar. Hyundai i20 is slightly longer as compared to the Honda Jazz, which is slightly taller. The Elite i20 had been introduced last year and slowly gained momentum in the Indian automobile market. Jazz on the other hand, is like a smaller version of a MPV. The new model will remind some styling aspects of the outgoing model. On the other hand, the stance of the Elite i20 is somewhat bolder.

Honda Jazz goes easy on the eyes with neutralised features unlike the Hyundai Elite i20’s eye-catchy styling. It has a longer hood and Jazz has a smaller slope on the bonnet. Honda puts in LED tail-lights. Definitely Elite i20 scores more brownie points than the Jazz as far as the styling is concerned.

Interior-wise, both the cars are almost equally placed with a neat and tidy dashboard. Elite i20 offers a dual-tone while Jazz has opted for a monochrome all-black approach. Hyundai has definitely more equipment than the Honda model, so much so as the position of the steering wheel is displayed on the console. Comfort-wise, both the cars are well at par. Spacious interiors with all the necessities, these hatchbacks have taken the comfort-factor to the next level for this category.

Both the cars have been provided with 1.2-litre petrol engines and have been categorised as premium hatches. The Jazz i-VTEC mill delivers 90 PS at 6000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4800 rpm as far as the power and torque outputs are concerned. On the other hand, Elite i20 delivers 83 PS at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm at 4000 rpm with the help off the VTVT Kappa motor. Hyundai is slightly lower in power but scores big in torque output. Both the cars come well-adept when it comes to power output. Be ready to experience the battle of the hatches as the new Honda Jazz breaks into the market soon.
