Continental, the renowned global automotive supplier has moved a step forward in combining biking and ultimate gadgets. This new presentation has been done in collaboration with helmet manufacturer, Skully Systems. The brand showcased its all-new Head-Up display at the recently organised Intermot Motorcycle Show in Germany, which was held in the beginning of this month. The new technology will definitely reduce the distractions for a rider, thus enabling them to ride with more comfort and safety. The logic used for developing this innovative structure is the same as the head-up display found on car windshields.

All important information regarding navigation will be brought on display in this head-up display pattern including road alerts and specific navigation. Apart from these information, other bike-specific data will also be supplied to the rider like inclination angles on the rider’s field of view, which will be mounted on the visor of the helmet. This will also enable he rider to keep a check on the blind-spot behind the shoulder with the help of a rear-view camera. It will be, thus, extremely convenient for the user to get absolute idea of his or her surroundings while driving, thus helping to identify critical situations with precisions and ease.

A two-minute simulation was also organised at the Intermot show to actually demonstrate what the head-up display was capable of in real-life situations. In this system, the helmet was linked to an electric control unit with the help of a Bluetooth 4.0, which analysed the data from the vehicle. All information is derived from the sensors of the bike and other digital equipment. The speed of the bike is measured with absolute precision with the help of the GPS and the speedometer combined and is neatly displayed on the visor. Some complicated systems like gear shift patterns were also showcased in the display. Other data might also be collaborated like information regarding traffic, maps and routes. The new head-up units is definitely a thumbs-up for increased road safety for two-wheeler riders. However, there has not been any official declaration from Continental as to when the product will be ready and up in the market.
