The well-appreciated British bike maker, Harley-Davidson has made two separate recalls for more than over 54,000 bikes in United States. While one recall includes models like Street 750 and the Street 500, the other covers Police Electra Glide, Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Street Glide, Street Glide Special and CVO Street Glide.

The above mentioned recall of high-end cruiser bikes involves an issue with the clutch master cylinder, which over a period of time starts malfunctioning, especially when the bike is parked at one place for a long time. As per the statement generated by the regulatory body in US, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “a chemical reaction inside of the sealed clutch system creates gas bubbles which may cause loss of clutch lift.”

According to the statement, this can result in improper working of the transmission system. On this recall, the auto maker has declared that the authorized dealerships will flush the clutch system and redesign the master cylinder without any charge for all models covered in the recall. It must be noted that the first recall covers around 8,904 units, whereas the second recall affects around 45,901 motorcycles.

Notably, the recall for Street 500 and Street 750 does not have any technical fault and is issued to incorporate a reflector assembly at rear. Interestingly, some of the models manufactured by Harley-Davidson do not feature rear reflectors, which are compulsory under the federal guidelines in US. Therefore, the dealerships will be putting these reflectors free of cost in models covered under the recall.
