The much awaited crossover model from General Motors is ready to hit the Indian roads during this Diwali. General Motors India is ready to launch GM Cruze on 12th of October which will be its new model in the upper mid-sized segment. It is expected that GM will price the car at Rs. 12-14 lakh and it will be pitted against Honda Civic, Skoda Laura and Toyota Corolla.
The new model GM Cruze is expected be powered by 2.0L common rail turbo diesel engine with 150 bhp of power and 330nm of torque. GM India may launch a 1.8L petrol 140bhp model with automatic transmission later on, but for now it will just be a diesel.
GM India is upbeat about Indian market. It has been making profits in the country even when the parent company was facing troubled times back home. GM India has promised that it will remain unaffected from the turmoils of the US market and will continue to bring newer models in the Indian market. In line with its business strategy for India, GM India is now also planning to bring Chevrolet Beat in the Indian market.
