After making its debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza in May, the new BMW 8 Series Concept made its way to the Frankfurt stage.

The resurrected 8 Series Coupe promises to arrive next year and will take its cues from this design study. The forthcoming 8 Series Coupe will spearhead BMW’s biggest model offensive when it arrives next year.

In typical BMW’s concept fashion, you can see the overly large and protruding kidney grille finished in chrome. Unfortunately, there are no pop-up headlamps here like the original E31 8 Series. However, the sleek laser headlights on the concept are uber cool and futuristic. The large wheel arches and side air vents complement the ‘long-hood-sloping roof’ silhouette of the Concept. The mirrors are sleek and the chrome lined window is complemented by 21-inch chrome wheels.

Move to the rear where the sleek LED tail lights sit atop the bumper vents, integrated into a curvaceous lip spoiler. The chrome exhaust tips are uniquely shaped. The overall profile of the car is low-slung and quite sporty. The roof has a sculpted roofline similar to the one seen on the M4 Coupe. On the inside, the 8 Concept is minimalistic with Merino leather upholstery coupled with brushed aluminium material.

BMW remains tight-lipped about the powertrain options for the production-spec 8 Series. However, given that it will be the flagship sports coupe in their line-up, expect it to be powered by the most potent engine in BMW line-up. It will be based on the new CLAR platform. According to BMW, the 8 Coupe will be a ‘driver’s car’.
