The recent trend in the Indian automobile industry has reflected the presence of All-Wheel Drive options available in most of the cars. Even a couple of years back, the number of cars with this option were limited, but it seems to have flooded the Indian automobile industry in the last few years. There is no such difference between a FWD and AWD, basically. The only differential point that distinguishes the two is that AWD is an accepted nomenclature for all cars that offer driving on all the four wheels. However, FWD is typically a term coined for large SUVs, which offer a driver customised option to switch to driving the car on four wheels.
