As per reports, Ford India saw its domestic sales dropping by 44.41 per cent at 4,003 units during April 2013, as against 7,201 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Further, the company’s export business grew by 37.96 per cent last month. Ford India exported 3,267 units overseas in April 2013, from 2,368 units dispatched last year.

Speaking on the latest sales figures, Vinay Piparsania, Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India Private Limited, was quoted as saying, “We are encouraged to see exports growing at a steady pace and we remain deeply optimistic about our business in India, as we continue to expect growth in the long term. We remain committed to introducing new and exciting Ford global products and technologies that consumers in India want and value.”

Expansion can also be noticed from the fact that two new dealerships have been opened in the cities of Kozhikode and Kottayam, in the state of Kerala. Both were launched within a single week, taking the total Ford outlets to 260, across 138 cities in the country. To this, Piparsania further added, “The two dealership openings in Kerala are the latest step in our aggressive expansion plan to have more than 500 sales and service outlets across India around mid-decade. We will continue to go further with more ways to engage our customers, making our services and offerings more accessible across the entire country.”

During the month of April this year, Ford’s upcoming EcoSport model was showcased in 12 cities across the country. As part of the car’s brand awareness campaign, EcoSport Urban Discoveries campaign is also being conducted by the company. It would give many customers the unique opportunity to drive the EcoSport in May and they would be allowed to share their experiences with family and friends. The success of its new compact SUV is very important for Ford India. Based on the response, the company would also look at launching other variants of the EcoSport, along with newer vehicles.
