Honda Cars India Limited, a completely owned subsidiary of the Japanese auto maker Honda Motor Co., has reported an impressive 19.97 per cent growth in its total domestic passenger car sales during the month of April 2013. The company recorded sales of 8,488 units in Indian auto market last month, a sharp increase from the 7,075 units sold in corresponding period of 2012 year. As per reports, Honda Cars India Limited witnessed sales of 1,917 units of its City mid-size sedan last month. Further, the Japanese auto maker sold 1,628 units and 33 units of its Brio compact hatchback and Accord premium saloon, respectively, in the domestic car market during April 2013. Some 58 units of the Honda CR-V premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) were also dispatched last month in the country.

However, it is the Amaze entry level sedan that bolstered Honda Cars India’s sales figures for the month of April 2013. The family sedan recorded remarkable sales numbers of 4,852 units, which is quite commendable considering the fact that the car was launched on April 11, 2013. Honda Amaze is the company’s first model to be offered in both petrol and diesel powered options in domestic passenger car market. The entry level sedan is available in an introductory price band of Rs. 4.99 lakh (for the base petrol variant) and Rs. 7.6 lakh (for the top end diesel trim), prices in the ex-showrooms of New Delhi.

Expressing his delight at the company’s impressive sales performance in April this year, Jnaneswar Singh, Senior Vice President (VP) of Sales and Marketing at Honda Cars India Limited was quoted as saying, “April 2013 was a significant landmark in Honda’s journey in India. With new investments in Tapukara plant, launch of advanced i-DTEC diesel engine technology, and rollout of new family sedan Amaze, Honda has set on a new phase of growth in the country. Amaze has received tremendous response from the customers despite the slowdown in the industry. We are confident that Amaze will drive our growth in this fiscal.”

At present, Honda Cars India Limited has two world class manufacturing plants at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The Japanese auto maker’s product portfolio comprises Brio hatchback, Amaze, City and Accord sedans, along with the CR-V premium SUV. The aforementioned models are manufactured at the company’s Greater Noida vehicle production unit. Honda Cars India boasts of a strong nationwide sales and distribution network with some 150 touch points in 97 cities.
