      Ford India attains 54 per cent export growth

      Despite the constant challenges posed by the Indian market, Ford India, with sales of 7,729 vehicles including both domestic sales and exports, maintained its steadfast performance. Earlier this month, the customers were burdened with increased rates of interest and a massive hike in the price of petrol.

      With 11,224 vehicles exported since January 2012 and 1,693 units exported in the month of May itself, Ford India's export volume climbed to 54 per cent in 2012. During the same period in last year, company had exported 7,281 cars. The international export network of the car maker now includes 35 countries. In May alone, the company sold 6,036 wholesale models in the country compared to 7,046 cars in same month in 2011.

      President and Managing Director (MD), Ford India, Michael Boneham, stated, “Despite the challenging market conditions, Ford is confident in the long-term future of the automotive market in India. We will continue investing to expand manufacturing and retail capacity in order to bring more great value-for-money, fun-to-drive, fuel efficient vehicles to India.” He further added, "We are working to offer more diesel vehicles to keep up with increased demand. We have increased capacity at our Chennai Engine Plant to 340,000 engines with an investment of USD 72 million that will be commissioned very soon.”

      At its one-day-one-night Midnight Sales event held on 13th May, record number of customers visited the Ford showrooms despite the unfavourable market conditions. For this event, Ford showrooms were kept open till midnight to make its convenient for the customers to shop for their cars. Lucrative offers were provided as well, by the company on all its car models.
