      Fiat Linea T-JET: A benchmark in its segment

      Ever since the inception of Linea model, Fiat has been taking the Indian car market seriously as it has introduced a number of variants under this series. Over the years, the Linea line-up has gone through several updates, particularly in the engine and performance section. At present, Linea T-JET is offered in 3 trim levels, namely Active, Dynamic and Emotion, which are all preferred by the Indian buyers, depending on their choice. Reportedly, all these models have a similar engine, but their level of performance differs along with the interior features.

      It must be noted that the T-JET variant has found a considerable customer base in India, primarily due to its affordable pricing and performance oriented engine. Linea T-JET is only offered in a petrol engine option – 16-valve 1.4-litre unit, which has a displacement of 1368 cc. This T-JET engine produces maximum power that equals to 112 bhp at 5000 rpm alongside the maximum torque of 207 Nm at 2200 rpm. As confirmed by the auto maker, the fuel efficiency of Linea T-JET mainly differs according to its trim levels. The Emotion and Dynamic trims returns ARAI certified figures of 15.7 kmpl whereas the base Active trim delivers a fuel efficiency of 20.4 kmpl.

      Coming to its features, the Active trim gets central door locking system, fire prevention system, immobiliser with rolling code, dual tone dashboard, programmable speed limit buzzer, rain sensing wipers, mileage indicator, electrically adjustable Outside Rear View Mirrors (ORVMs), tilt steering, rear air conditioner vents (foot level) and integrated CD/MP3 and FM player. On the other hand, the top specification, Emotion trim gets advanced safety features that include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), automatic door locking and disc brakes, besides the ones given in Active trim. It also gets 16-inch alloy wheels, interior chrome kit, leather wrapped steering wheel/gear knob, leather upholstery, driver seat height adjuster and remote key less entry system.

      To sum up on the interiors of Linea T-JET, it gets the dual-tone dashboard that gives premium feel inside the cabin. With its quality plastics and Italian leather-trimmed upholstery, Linea T-Jet gives a refined user experience. Also to mention, the car gets an integrated music system that supports CD, MP3 and FM while the presence of steering mounted audio controls and Bluetooth connectivity lends ease for the passengers.

      In terms of pricing, the base Active trim is offered at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.69 lakh, the mid level Dynamic at Rs. 8.52 lakh whereas the top specification Emotion trim is placed at Rs. 8.94 lakh. Talking about the competition of Linea T-JET, its fiercest rival lies in the form of Honda City that carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.29 lakh for the base variant that further goes up till Rs. 10.7 lakh. it must be noted that both the cars have build up a significant customer base but the newly launched sedan of Fiat enjoys a slight advantage over its rival as it has got a lot of power packed features.
