Fiat India is all set to launch its new product, Avventura crossover in domestic market tomorrow. Before Avventura, earlier this year, Fiat rolled out tweaked variants of Linea sedan and Punto Evo hatchback. Based on Punto Evo hatchback, Avventura has several things in common with the former and at the same is bestowed with a couple of features that vary it from the hatchback. To give Avventura a distinguished look, Fiat has equipped a tailgate mounted spare tyre, body cladding and an increased segment best ground clearance of 205 mm. Features such as compass and tilt meter, 16-inch alloy wheels are being offered as standard fitments.
The crossover will be launched three trim levels in both petrol and diesel engine options including Active, Dynamic and Emotion variants.
Powering the petrol range will be the same 1.4 litre FIRE engine that does duty in Punto Evo. The engine is capable of producing maximum power output of 89 Bhp along with peak torque of 115 Nm. Diesel variants will also get the same 1.3 litre Multijet diesel powertrain that is housed in Punto Evo diesel variants. The 92 Bhp/209 Nm version of the Multijet engine will be employed in Avventura diesel. Both the engines will be matched to a five-speed manual transmission transmitting power to the front wheels.
The hatchback-based crossover segment is yet not that popular in India, there are only two other options other than the upcoming Avventura in this segment viz; Toyota’s Etios Cross and Volkswagen’s Cross Polo. Fiat has been grappling to strike a chord with customers in India for last many years and to its disappointment it has not been able to do so. Expectations are high from the upcoming vehicles, hopefully, Avventura will be able to deliver what is expected of it.
