Fiat cars, known for offering high performance, are popular among auto enthusiasts in the country. Fiat India brought in this Punto-based crossover, seeing just how popular compact SUVs and crossovers are in India.
When Fiat entered this newly-formed segment, Volkswagen and Toyota already had their products and the competition got even more fierce after Hyundai launched the i20 Active crossover. But the Avventura is, still, one of the most capable cars in its segment.
Here are five reasons why you should buy Fiat Avventura
1. Striking design - The Fiat Avventura crossover is, unarguably, is the best looking product in its league, though Hyundai's i20 Active too is charming. Despite being based on the Punto Evo, it is very difficult to see the hatchback design, thanks to the thoroughly redesigned bodywork. The most prominent part in its styling is the spare wheel mounted on the vehicle's rear. Instead of the hatch door, the spare wheel is mounted on a dedicated arm made for it.
2. Well equipped interiors - The Avventura's interiors are directly borrowed from the Evo, but it has grey colour finish that adds to its appeal. To add SUV feel, the car gets ambient lighting around the dashboard and large instrument cluster with tilt-metre and digital compass. It is equipped with automatic air conditioning with dedicated vent for rear occupants, Blue and Me Microsoft Bluetooth stereo system with voice commands.
3. Performance - The Avventura crossover is powered by the same 1.3-litre diesel engine producing 92bhp that also powers the Punto Sport and Linea. This engine has been tuned to offer better performance at lower speeds. The gearbox is nicely fixed to spin the car between 2,000 and 4,500rpm. Low NVH levels further enhance the overall driving experience. The crossover can run in three-digit speeds for hours without much issue.
4. Off-road ability - The company has engineered the Avventura to provide a proper crossover feel. The ride height has been increased by a significant 20mm over the hatchback sibling. The Avventura offers a large 205mm of ground clearance, which makes it easier to drive through rugged road conditions. The suspension setup is also tuned to complement the high ground clearance. It is equipped with an anti-roll bar at the rear to limit body roll. Also added are the flatter 205/55 tyres to provide better grip.
5. Mileage and Price - The diesel Avventura crossover is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 20.5kmpl. The petrol variant prices start at Rs. 6.44 lakh, while the oil burner's price begins at Rs. 7.19 lakh.
