A total of 31 Mahindra XUV 500s will be treading dirt across Asia to mark Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN)-India trade relations' 20th anniversary. The second season of this car rally is scheduled to be flagged off from Yogyakarta, India on November 26, 2012. The rally will be commenced with a ceremonial event in Singapore. This year the ASEAN-India Car Rally will witness participation from five celebrities, as stated by the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization (MMPO). The rally will be concluding on December 20th in India.
According to the rally format, each ASEAN country and India are allowed to send a maximum of two official teams to participate. Furthermore, each team is allowed to include only four members, according to a statement issued by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The caravan of 31 Mahindra XUV500s will be navigated by 124 rally drivers from the 10 member countries of ASEAN and India. Incidentally, the XUV500 is manufactured and exported by Mahindra &Mahindra and has been a runaway success across the globe. The second ASEAN-India Car Rally will be zigzagging across Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Myanmar. Over the entire course, the rally will cover a distance of 7,610 km and will finally come to an end in India. This will be an ultimate endurance test of the Mahindra XUV500 with numerous terrains like coastal areas and mountain sections lying along the route.
2012 ASEAN-India Car Rally is an attempt towards building upon and improving the relations and connectivity shared by the ASEAN countries and India. This, in turn, will benefit the youth, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, diplomats, students and scientists. The cause is a noble one and it is only justifying to wish for its successful attainment.
