Big cars are pretty evidently the new trend in the Indian sub-continent. The recently ended 2014 Auto Expo event witnessed a new fleet of launched or showcased SUV's and crossovers in the country. Concept cars were also amongst the list of highlights during the recently held event.
The Toyota Etios Cross is said to be based on the Etios hatchback platform. The crossover sports a rugged and sportier look in comparison to its hatchback counterpart. The car features a set of 15-inches, 10-spoke alloy wheels, black and silver body cladding, large bars on the roof, an integrated bumper guard at front, rear spoiler and a new fog lamp cluster, which were missing from the hatchback and offers an aggressive stance. The car has also received plastic cladding for the lower body section. Inside the cabin, the vehicle has adjustable headrests, black seat fabric and chrome enhancements on the dashboard. To enhance your entertainment experience the car comes with a 2 DIN audio system loaded with Bluetooth, Aux-in and USB compatibility.
The interiors look smart and carry an upmarket feel. The crossover is expected to be powered by the existing 1.4-litre D4D diesel engine that generates about, whereas the petrol versions are powered by 1.2 Liter and 1.5-litre variant that generates about 80 Ps and 90 Ps of power respectively. The upcoming car is positioned in straight of competition to the likes of Volkswagen Cross Polo and the upcoming Fiat Punto Adventure Crossover. The car is said to be loaded with interesting safety features like ABD and EBD systems to make your journey's more secured and comfortable. Bookings are open and interested buyers can make a down payment of Rs. 50,000 as a booking amount.
Chevrolet Adra is a new compact crossover that has been developed by the General Motors research and development team in India. The showcased crossover is said to be based on Toyota's global design philosophy. If at-all the car makes it to large scale production, it shall be under sub 4 meter category to avail tax benefits. The showcased version featured ample cabin space and sported a no nonsense exterior stance. Stefan Jacoby, Executive Vice-President and President, GM International Operations, said, “Many of the products on display were engineered locally to meet the unique needs and preferences of the domestic market. They represent our commitment to continue growing our presence in India.” More technical specifications about this concept crossover has not been released for now and may be spoken about in detail post an official launch.
