Actor Salman Khan received a setback when a session court rejected plea for a three-weak adjournment of the hit-and-run case going on against him. The Dabang star is facing charges of injuring four people and killing one by driving his car into a shop almost 13 years back. Khan had requested the court for a three-week adjournment due to his appearance being required in another court case, which is going on in Jodhpur. Notably, the Jodhpur case accuses Salman Khan of killing an endangered black buck. It was the actor’s response to a direction given by a Mumbai court, asking for his appearance in order to record a statement.

Shrikant Shivade, the lawyer of Salman Khan, moved an application to seek adjournment of the case for a period of three weeks and it was strongly opposed by the opposition. The argument put forth by public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said that the hit-and-run case should be given priority as the sessions court had finalised the hearing date much before the Jodhpur hearing was decided.

The prosecutor further added that since the hit-and-run case is continuing on a daily basis, it should be given priority over the proceedings going on in the Jodhpur court. D W Deshpande, the Judge, heard both sides and decided to reject the plea made by Salman Khan. As a result of this, Salman Khan will appear in the session court of March 27th to record his statement under section 313 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The actor will be given the opportunity to explain his case and present forth a defence in front of the judge. Also, Khan will be required to give any sort of clarification or explanation if the need be. Another development in this particular case saw the court rejecting Salman Khan’s request of recalling the first investigating officer. As per Khan’s lawyer, he wanted to cross examine the police officer regarding some details.
