Going by the pictures, it is visible that the new model looks more modern than the outgoing car. It features a more prominent grille, which is flanked by sweptback headlamps. The SUV also has muscular wheel arches, aggressive and an upward sweeping shoulder line that runs across the length, and a sloping roofline. The heavily camouflaged rear profile seems more rounded than its predecessor. The next Pajero is likely to get all-new interior. It is expected that the SUV will get an upgraded cabin with good quality materials and advanced features.

The exact engine specification of the SUV is yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be offered in petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions. The plug-in hybrid unit is likely to be sourced from the Outlander PHEV. If media reports are to be believed, the new generation Pajero Sport will be based on a new platform. The new platform will allow the Pajero SUV to shed some weight, which translates into better performance. It is also likely to offer improved handling and responsive.

The current Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is powered by a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that churns out 177bhp of power and 350Nm (Automatic Mode) and 400Nm (Manual Mode) of torque. It uses the ladder frame chassis and is assembled at Hindustan Motor's Tiruvallur production unit in Chennai.
