Lovers of performance sedans shall not deny on Chevrolet Cruze's performance potential. In the Indian market the Cruze sedan has been positioned as an upmarket sedan that is loaded with set of interesting features. Recently, Chevrolet Cruze has crossed the 3 million sales mark in the global platform. The stylish sedan is sold in about 118 countries and has about 11 different manufacturing facilities spread across. The recently launched 2014 Chevrolet Cruze in India is powered by turbocharged 2.0-litre VCDi engine that generates about 166 Ps of power with 380 Nm of torque. The powerful engine is mated to optional six-speed automatic and manual transmissions.
Back at the launch event, speaking more about the newly launched car at the launch event, Rajesh Singh, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and after sales, General Motors India, said, “We are constantly upgrading our car lines according to the evolving needs of the Indian consumer. The updated Chevrolet Cruze with all new Gen2 automatic transmission returns improved fuel economy and also provides turn indicators on outside rear view mirrors, both of which are crucial for Indian road conditions.”
In the Indian version to handle unpredictable Indian road conditions, for the front wheels the Chevrolet Cruze sedan gets gas-charged McPherson strut type suspension, whereas the rear wheels have received U-shaped rear suspension loaded with torsion beams and gas-charged shock absorber. In the international market, the Cruze sedan is available in three petrol engine variants namely – 1.4 Liter, 1.6-litre, and 1.8-litre, whereas the diesel variant gets 1.7- and 2-liter engines.
Going by sales number reports, about 1.13 million units of Chevrolet Cruze have been sold in China; 1,95,000 units in Russia, 134,00 in Brazil; 73,000 in South Korea; 123,000 in Canada; 50,000 in Mexico; 30,000 in Turkey; 28,000 in India; 27,000 in South Africa and 9,00,000 in the US.
