General Motors India on Saturday launched the LPG version of its popular compact hatchback Chevrolet Beat in the Indian market. The new Chevrolet Beat LPG comes powered by a locally developed state-of-art `Smartech' engine of the company. The launch of an LPG version will enable the Beat series to compete more promptly with the likes of Ford Figo and Maruti Ritz.

"India is a key market for General Motors and our Chevrolet brand. We are focused on leveraging our unmatched resources to create value for our local customers in all areas, including price, fuel efficiency, performance, safety, styling, reliability and other product attributes."

The new Beat LPG model comes blessed with an advanced multi-point sequential injection that removes the possibility of loss of power whenever there is a transition between petrol and LPG. It also removes the possibility of jerking or backfires.

The car has been priced at Rs 4.81 lakh (ex- showroom price). Moreover, the car comes equipped with highly safe LPG kit parts that have been designed installed and validated to meet the crash requirement in the case of any collision. The LPG kit installation in this model is compatible with straight safety norms and whenever the LPG is depleted, the car automatically shifts to petrol.
