      Mercedes rolls-out G-Class in India

      The leading luxury car maker Mercedes Benz on Monday launched its G Class sports utility vehicle (SUV) – G 55 AMG in India. The car has been priced at Rs 1.10-crore (ex-showroom Mumbai). According to the company, the car has been receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers and more than 20 units of the car have already been booked in the country. Mercedes Benz India will start delivering this vehicle to the customers by the end of this month.

      Speaking to the reporters at the launching ceremony of the car, Mercedes-Benz India's Director Sales and Marketing, Debashis Mitra, said, "Globally, we have sold around 2-lakh units of the G-class till date. At an aggressive price point of Rs 1.10-crore, the iconic G-Class has received significant interest from customers who want the highest capabilities from their luxury SUVs."

      The vehicle comes powered by massive 5.5 Liter Supercharged V8 AMG petrol engine that is capable of delivering a peak power of 507 bhp at 6100rpm along with a torque of 71.4 kgm at 2750 rpm. Moreover, the vehicle comes equipped with a range of new age technological features including Mercedes 4ETS system, Bi-Xenon headlamps, corner illuminating fog lamps and COMAND system. It takes just 5.5 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km/hr.
