Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer of India, is ready to unveil the all-new avatar of the Celerio hatchback in the country with a diesel mill. Celerio became a super hit in the market because it was one of the first passenger cars in the country, which was launched with an automated manual transmission (AMT).
The new diesel Celerio will be provided with an option of manual transmission only for the time being as the reports have suggested. However, it is expected that AMT will be added at a later stage. The car comes with an 800 cc engine and has been classified as the smallest diesel passenger car in the nation as of yet. The tri-cylinder mill has been built right from the scratch. The 1.3-litre DDiS engine that Maruti uses has been sourced from Fiat. Celerio will be pitted against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Chevrolet Beat.
Maruti is expected to launch the new Celerio diesel quite soon. The power output for this car is slated to be around 50 PS at its peak output. It is expected that the new model will come with both an automatic as well as a manual gearbox. The nation gets to witness the new model from June 3rd, 2015.
