There are major concerns over global warming and dwindling fossil resources. Where the earth is headed to or what worse it should prepare to see in future are questions people keep pondering over. Drastic climatic changes, ever increasing pollution and melting polar ice are some major concerns of environmentalists and global leaders. There prevails a chaotic situation with regards to the harm done to the environment by vast global transportation system. As one can see here, with ever increasing burden of vehicles on roads, urban passenger transportation is adding more and more harmful gases in the ecosystem, a major portion being Carbon Dioxide. This is choking and damaging our natural environment at a brisk pace. Amid such a noisy rap, it is a natural appeal for global auto companies to come up with sustainable solutions and as it seems, BMW, one of the top premium car makers, has replied to such a grave situation at the right time.

Besides being a propagator of sustainable business and increasing profitability, BMW also understands that it owes much to the environment. Being a global leader, further adds to its responsibility and as expected, the top luxury car brand has come up with BMW i series. This latest innovation explores alternative fuel resources for the transportation system and also represents visionary electric vehicles. The most important aspect of this new series is that it may start a new competition between persistent top brands to bring up new car models that drive on eco-friendly alternative fuel options.

This becomes even more important as such a turmoil at a top-level may initiate changes that will slowly and steadily penetrate lower-levels too. Yes, indeed, a chain reaction to woo customers with new vehicles that progressively will depend on non-polluting fuel options is surely on the agenda, now. Thus, making a positive impact on the environment that we breathe in. In fact, to be more honest, such key initiatives will only prove to be phenomenal to the transportation system that persists across the globe.

Also such noticeable initiative of making eco-friendly passenger cars is sure to infiltrate and weave solutions for the future transportation system too. From this perspective, it can be said that the company claims hold true when it admires this new series with glorifying words.

Notably, the German firm aptly describes this project as “BMW i is a comprehensive and ground-breaking concept for sustainable mobility. It represents visionary electric vehicles and mobility services, inspiring design and a new understanding of premium that is strongly defined by sustainability. And it thrills with its innovative vehicles: the all-electric BMW i3, a locally emission-free vehicle for city driving that is sustainably designed throughout, and the BMW i8 concept as the future of the sports vehicle.”

The BMW i Mobility Concept is suggestive of ideas like Born Electric. Thus, such car models provide sheer driving pleasure while being 100 per cent emission free. Notably, such a car model does not use conventional, petrol or diesel, fuels. Instead, it makes use of electrical energy while driving on city roads. This also means that customers will have the option of charging the car at home itself. While going out on long drives, charging stations will facilitate the charging of the vehicle.

Besides emission free fuelling option, BMW i series also make use of carbon fibre for its passenger cell. Carbon is lighter than both, steel and aluminium. The BMW Efficient Dynamics lightweight construction technology ensures use of carbon to offset additional weight of high-voltage lithium-ion battery without compromising safety of passengers. The use of carbon cell has been made possible after years of intense research and development. Notably, the BMW Group has collaborated with SGL Automotive Carbon Fibres for producing carbon fibres and carbon fibre plates to be used in production cars. Still more, the car also comes with a number of other features to enhance safety and efficiency. In a nutshell, such car models provide a viable solution for future transportation needs.
